Everyone gets a job
Kids
Inspect the rocket with a parent, predict its flight, help with the countdown, observe, and join authorized recovery tasks.
Parents
Help check the rocket, supervise assigned tasks, record results, and work with the adult launch leader.
Every child attends with a parent. Both take part in the activity, setup, and cleanup, with tasks matched to ability and appropriate supervision.
Kids and adults put phones away, share tools and turns, and help each other learn. Please read the Family Participation Guidelines together before attending.
How the day takes shape
- Check the rockets and explain the launch-day roles.
- Make a prediction and prepare a flight record.
- Take turns launching under adult direction.
- Recover only when the launch leader gives the go-ahead.
- Compare predictions with results and help pack up.
What to bring
- Your finished rocket and its instructions.
- Warm outdoor layers and a water bottle.
- A parent to participate in the launch-day activities.
Shared arrangements
- An organized family launch session, with adult-led range and equipment arrangements to be confirmed.
The launch arrangement will follow the kit instructions and the National Association of Rocketry safety code, including a suitable field and conditions.
Details still taking shape
December 5 is tentative. The final date, field arrangements, motors, launch equipment, start time, and weather plan are still to be confirmed. December 12 is a proposed backup, not a confirmed second date.
