Field Days launch first. The first season runs at a founding rate offered to the waitlist. Axe Weeks follow once the property can house them; see dates.
What's included
- All instruction, at a ratio that keeps every participant on the tools.
- All build materials. They become a permanent installation, so nothing is billed back to you.
- All tools and safety equipment. Bring your own gloves and boots.
- Meals: lunch both days on a Field Day; every meal on an Axe Week.
- Lodging on site for Axe Weeks.
- Your take-home plan: worksheets, a materials list, and a build sequence for your own property.
What isn't
- Travel to Brimley.
- Lodging for Field Days. You stay in Sault Ste. Marie or Brimley; see getting here.
- Dinner and breakfast on Field Days.
- Materials for your own project at home.
The whole cost of attending
So nobody is surprised: add fuel for the drive (5 to 6 hours from Detroit or Grand Rapids, about 7 from Chicago or Toronto), and for a Field Day, two nights of lodging and your dinners. Price your own drive and a motel in the Sault before you book, and count it as part of the tuition.
Deposit and balance
- 30% deposit at booking.
- Balance due 60 days before the session.
Cancellation, in plain language
- More than 90 days out: full refund, minus a $150 administrative fee.
- 90 to 45 days out: 50% refund.
- Inside 45 days: no refund, but your deposit transfers once to another date within 12 months.
- If we cancel: sessions run rain or shine. We cancel only for lightning, unsafe wind, or a fire ban that affects the curriculum, and then you choose a new date or a full refund.
- Minimums: an Axe Week needs 6 participants and a Field Day needs 8. A session that doesn't reach its minimum is canceled 30 days out with a full refund.
